Dear Outdoor Enthusiasts,
 
Destination Outdoors was birthed like many great ideas… around a campfire! After a 43-mile hike on the Appalachian Trail (AT), four veteran hiking buddies came off the trail in Western Carolina to spend their last couple days of solitude in Yurts in the Nantahala National Forest area. While discussing the hike, three things were decided: The AT was becoming crowded, Yurts were cool, and one day we’d put one up on land that we owned.
Nine years after that campfire talk, two stooges walked out of a property attorney's office in Sylva, North Carolina—in significant debt, mind you—with 108.69 acres of pristine, untouched North Carolina property.
As you may have guessed, one of those stooges was me. Hi! I'm Matt! Proud proprietor of Destination Outdoors.
Located amongst the picturesque landscape of Cullowhee, North Carolina, we invite families from around the country to head this way, turn off their digital devices, and reconnect with the world around you.
As a small family of six, we know plenty of good times are awaiting you and your loved ones. Stargaze with the kids, enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding, and canoeing, or set out for a hike on the trails.
